The LOFT Youth Centre for Social Enterprise and Innovation in Toronto, Canada has launched a Capital Campaign to raise funds for its new building at 850 Bloor Street West.
The LOFT, which stands for Life, Opportunities, Food and Technology, operates under the Christie Ossington Neighbourhood Centre, and is part of a social enterprise aimed at fostering the skills, creativity and entrepreneurship of Toronto’s youth. The LOFT was created in 2001 and is now on the cusp of a major transition. They are hoping to raise $950,000 to provide at-risk youth in Toronto with outlets for their creativity, as well as mentoring, marketable skills and career exploration.
LOFT is comprised of three social enterprises: Under the Radar Design, the LOFT Sound Studio, and the LOFT Kitchen. These enterprises untie staff, mentors, volunteers and youth to give direction to young people needing guidance, and also give back to the community.
