University Students Inspired by Social Entrepreneurship

Students at the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona are working on a project for PlayAbility Toys, a company that specializes in making toys for kids with special needs.

The students are learning skills like marketing and development in a social entrepreneurship setting which they find inspiring. The company is also featured in a class on social entrepreneurship that is taught at the school as a case study in success.

The company’s CEO visits the classroom and explains to students that 7 to 12 million kids in the US have some form of special needs, but toys in the mainstream market have not been designed with them in mind. PlayAbility Toys employs families and therapists to design and manufacture high-quality toys aimed at engaging children with visual or auditory impairment, autism, physical limitations, and developmental and cognitive disabilities.
