The country of Laos is experiencing an eco business revolution today, as sustainable tourism is racing along the recently paved roads from provincial cities to the remote edges of pristine country.
Organic farm coops and ethnic fashion shows are all connected to this theme of putting money back where it belongs, with the people of the country. The heart of this revolution is called Stay Another Day, a Luang Prabang-based initiative that organizes a guide to the country’s sustainable organizations.
The organization asks travelers to buy local and fair trade products, and to get off the beaten-path, volunteer and make donations, as well as learning some words in Lao and to respect the local culture. Eco tourism has been a great boon for Laos, which has little in the way of industry but incredible natural resources to attract tourists.
