The first step in launching a social enterprise start up is to pick an idea and run with it.

It doesn’t have to be the perfect idea, but once you get at least a good idea you should begin to have conversations with friends about it. You will of course get mixed feedback, and there are always reasons you can think of to not pursue an idea, but you have to overcome these doubts and become committed to making it a reality.

It is helpful to call someone who has done it before and ask them how they started their social enterprise. Yet every story is different and the process of kicking off a social enterprise is inevitably chaotic. With so many details to cover, you can easily become overwhelmed, but it helps to remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day, and you have some time to get everything running smoothly.
