Alan Khazei is a social entrepreneur and political candidate in the US who inspired students at a Clark University graduation with a speech about not shying away from tackling the world’s biggest problems.

He told them that every single one of them is needed to confront the huge challenges of climate change and global security, and that it’s always been young people who have led the efforts for change. Mr. Khazei is co-founder of the nonprofit organization City Year, which was the model for the US AmeriCorps program. He is also running for a Democratic Senate seat in 2012.

He asked graduates to make time in their lives to help others, and to use their extraordinary talents to make a difference. He talked to them about his own journey from being an unemployed college graduate to an nationally known leader by following his dreams.
