Dell has made a large social entrepreneurship grant to the University of Texas at Austin, intended to help that school to expand the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service.

The grant will be distributed to the Center over five years, and it is in line with Dell’s Social Innovation Competition that is pioneering a new model of purpose-driven and engaged eduction for students around the world. Dell’s gift is not just generous but strategic as well. It will help to transform the Social Innovation Competition into the world’s premier network for student social entrepreneurs.

It will also give them access and opportunity to bring their humanitarian dreams to life through technology. The 2011 competition reflected an increased international presence as the RGK Center partnered with a global network of universities to form a global mentorship program for which Dell provided 100 executive level members.
