A report from the Skoll Foundation explores the benefits of social entrepreneurship for companies and society. The report evaluates survey results from 100 global social entrepreneurs, and found that the sector is gaining momentum in many countries as it is providing viable solutions to social problems.
The report concludes that the potential for breakthrough solutions in many important areas is growing as more talented people are drawn to the field. Some of the benefits that social entrepreneurs enjoy include access to networks and places where traditional corporations may lack experience.
To increase their scale, they need access to financing on the scale of for-profit businesses, which can come from a variety of sources. Governments, corporate donations, foundations, individuals and partnerships are all sources of funding that social entrepreneurs have access to.
