Baraka Ventures is a social entrepreneurship company that teaches social enterprise at no cost. Founded by Rama Chakaki, the company provides workshops which are open to the public.
They’re intended for entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs to raise awareness. They also work through university partners to run entrepreneurship programs which are paid for and hosted by the universities. These comprehensive programs last for six wees, and guide entrepreneurs through all the basics of business startup. Baraka Ventures also acts as an equity partner in select business models which fit with their investment approach.
With most businesses, they serve as a financial sponsor only but in two cases they became full business partners. Chakaki says that the organization uses the “Robin Hood model” to provide free services for entrepreneurs, as they receive pay for their consultancy services from large institutions and use it to finance their free programs.
