There are some social entrepreneurship degree programs today that allow students to combine their passion for social entrepreneurship with another related field like social work.

For example, there are now several executive MBA/MSW programs which cater to professional social workers who want to add to their qualifications. These programs are offered at some of the nation’s top business schools, and provide specialized coursework on topics like accessing venture capital, investing in emerging markets, healthcare innovation and sustainable energy development.

For example, the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University was a leader in offering a dual major program which it launched in 2004. This major features courses on social entrepreneurship which are coordinated with the Olin Business School. The quality of this program has attracted students from many countries who learn essential strategies for increasing the community impact of their work through innovation.
