The School of International Service in Washington, DC is the first member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs to offer social entrepreneurship graduate programs.

For example, their Master of Arts in Social Enterprise is one of a few programs globally with a direct focus on social entrepreneurship. It is designed to give students the knowledge and practical tools necessary for launching a new social enterprise or leading an existing one.

The program provides a practical focus as opposed to a theoretical approach, blending education on management practices with an in-depth study of the process of social innovation. As it’s location in the School of International Service implies, the program has a distinct global focus as well. The two-year program will accept its first full class this fall, and it will include internships and hands-on projects in addition to coursework.
