A website founded by young Dubai resident Valencio Cardoso called sociallyconsciousarabia.com is a social entrepreneurship initiative to inform and educate people on important social causes.

He said that there are many organizations working hard each day to make the world a better place, but they don’t often get enough media attention on their work. He decided to take action after talking to friends about organizations like FreeRice, which raises money from corporations to donate to the UN World Food Program.

He realized that most of his friends had no idea that organizations like this existed, and that if more people were aware of them they would be likely to contribute and support them. Cardoso’s previous work with the Suraya Foundation, which helps to prevent auto accidents, taught him that social enterprises could have an important effect.
