Liberian native Saran Kaba Jones was forced to flee the country with her family at the age of 8, due to a civil war in that country which lasted more than 10 years. The young social entrepreneur spent 5 years in the private equity industry in Singapore, before quitting to start a full time social enterprise of her own.
Her organization, called Face Africa, is an NPO that helps people in rural Liberian communities access clean drinking water using via a social enterprise solution. Today the organization is helping many thousands of Liberians, and Jones has plans to expand it further.
She said she was first inspired to start a social enterprise after reading Bill Clinton’s book “Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World”. After returning to Liberia in 2008 she saw the tremendous social cost of the civil war, and the reality on the ground that millions lacked access to safe drinking water.
