Social entrepreneurs in Ireland are competing for a $90,000 award this year from the Social Entrepreneurs Ireland annual contest. Eight finalists were chosen from a total of over 200 applicants, and these finalists will now take part in a three month program where they utilize finding and support from the organization to more fully develop their ideas before a final winner is selected this fall.

Social Entrepreneurs Ireland was originally founded as part of The One Foundation in 2004, but it has operated as an independent group since 2007. The organization has supported the work of over 140 social entrepreneurs in Ireland with almost $4 million in support since 2005. This year they used the WizeHive Grant Management Software system to collect information on the 2011 applicants for the contest. This program allowed them to build custom online forms and accept applications online.
