General Colin Powell was a special guest at the World Youth Peace Summit in Hartford, Connecticut, where he delivered the keynote address at the new event hosted by the Institute for International Sport. Powell also met with 20 teenage participants to discuss their peace proposals, which included ideas on youth social entrepreneurship.
Each participant in the session presented their key ideas to Powell, who offered personalized feedback. The 20 young social entrepreneurs were handpicked for the quality of their ideas, and the meeting presented a rare opportunity for them to gain an audience with a prestigious world leader. The keynote address by Powell also inaugurated the Center for Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Hartford, which will work towards developing the peace initiatives proposed by students at the first World Youth Peace Summit.
