Designing Websites for Nonprofits

When designing websites for nonprofits, it’s important to keep in mind that limited budgets are often a factor, but there are some key design elements which can make your site more effective without costing a fortune to implement.

First of all, an effective website design should include a clear mission description on the home page that will be helpful to visitors who are unfamiliar with the organization. This description should give a quick summary of the information which is often included on the “About Us” page of websites.

The home page should provide links to detailed information about the organization’s history and mission as well. The best web design is structured around the organization’s target donor, but this can be more complicated than it sounds given the fact that some nonprofits can have several different target audiences with varying needs.
