Grassroots.org provides free non profit website designers that work on a volunteer basis for charities.

The site is a matching service which screens professional volunteer website designers and pairs them up with non profits in need of design services. Professional website design can be beyond the budget of small charities, yet these charities require a web presence to raise needed funds.

Another problem with commercial design services for non profits is that they are often not experienced in the unique needs that these organizations have. For example, there are many non profits that must meet special web design standards required by the federal government in order to receive certain types of funding. Grassroots.org offers a range of talented designers to choose from, including volunteers who are studying design at university and experienced employees of design consulting firms.
