There are many benefits and potential uses of blogging for nonprofits. For example, a blog is an excellent way of providing coverage of an important conference or event in an engaging format. Another benefit of blogging is that it helps to involve staff in the organization on a deeper level which can take advantage of their knowledge for the benefit of the charity. Blogs can also be used to engage volunteers by documenting their work.
A good example of this is the surgical volunteer organization Interplast, which allows volunteers to upload blog posts right from their worksite. Blogs are a great way to provide information and other resources to organization members, and also to allow constituents to engage with the organization and one another by writing posts for the blog.
