The new boss of CDFA, Ben Hughes has recently launched a program, “Just Finance”. The project aims to help the social enterprise and individuals interested in social entrepreneurship by developing the Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFIs) and providing a healthy environment for the lender and the borrower. Most associations admit that the single most threatening obstacle to their sustainability is availability and access to finance. This is addressed by the availability of community financing thru the CDFIs. These facilities are run by the local communities and for them. They provide affordable credits which are available even to those unable to secure a loan from big banks. However, they still require that the borrower is able to pay. The CDFIs are not limited to providing money but extend their hand by providing different support like advice, training, and development.
