The latest post on Kivi’s nonprofit blog is a guest post by Allison Monnell. Kivi is one of many online business ideas that has given hope to non-profits. Allison is the Community Relations Director for Chemung ARC. Her post is on the topic of why storytelling works, and how to capture and share success stories. Every nonprofit organization has its share of inspiring success stories, but many are unsure how to capture these and share them in a way that will engage their communities. Monnell used her organization’s e-newsletter for this purpose, by assigning reporters at various locations. These reporters were actually operations staff who had hands on experience working with their mental health patients because they believed they would have the best stories to share. Some of these stories were so compelling that they ended up finding their way into the broader community media, and this helped to boost the profile of Chemung Arc significantly.
