Civic Ventures is a social enterprise that focuses on engaging millions of baby boomers as a vital workforce for change through entrepreneurial skills. Alexandra Cespedes Kent is Director for the Purpose Prize at Civic Ventures, which offers $100,000 in awards for social innovators over 60 who are creating new methods for solving the world’s biggest problems. The prize is awarded to individuals who discover new opportunities, invent new programs and foster lasting social change. Alexandra has promoted civic leadership and financial literacy throughout her career. Before coming to Civic Ventures, she directed community programs for the Coro Center for Civic Leadership, where she designed intensive leadership programs for teens, professionals, retirees and partner institutions, including the University of California at San Francisco. Alexandra managed the nation’s largest Individual Development Account program at Juma Ventures, and implemented the local arm of SEED, which tested the feasibility of a matched savings account system for children.
