A Case Foundation study on how to use social media for nonprofits focused on social media use by the America’s Giving Challenge event. This year they are pursing a study which tries to discover the best practices for using social media in fundraising efforts. They will look be examining the fundraising campaigns of America’s Giving Challenge winners to produce a write-up based on interviews with these winners. For example, one case study will look at a small organization called Darius Goes West. The study wanted to examine social media use by small groups in particular because it is a common perception that small organizations are at a disadvantage when it comes to social media campaigns. The study will consider issues such as whether participation in online contests or fundraising campaigns using social networks are an effective way to engage fans.
