A conference series on social media for nonprofits launched last month in San Francisco. It will feature conferences on the topic in seven cities, organized around the important question of how local charities can benefit from the social media landscape on limited budgets. Each conference will feature a full day of tips and techniques that can help participants in the areas of advocacy, fundraising and marketing. There will be workshops led by industry experts, as well as interactive roundtable discussions and inspiring keynote speeches. For example, one of the keynote speeches at the San Francisco conference will be on the topic of how nonprofits can benefit from free agent fundraisers. Some keynote speakers include Guy Kawasaki and Beth Kanter, along with Charles Porch of Facebook and Susan Gordon of Causes.com.
