One of the top blogs on social media for social change is called “Social Actions”. A recent article on this blog discussed the topic of the evolution of social action platforms including their most recent development into a type of sustainable system. Social action platforms have been proliferating, and to further their development towards a coherent network it is necessary to promote the three qualities of all healthy systems: diversity, redundancy and strong connections between members. In terms of diversity, the fact that there are over 200 online philanthropy platforms today can be viewed as a good thing. It would actually be counterproductive to try to limit the number of sites or consolidate them into fewer large sites. In terms of redundancy, it’s also healthy that there are many overlaps and similarities between these platforms.
