So I started the Language Learning Log today. Not only is it a language learning website in general to help you learn languages, but I’m also treating it as a public proclamation to the world to document my own language learning progress. Along the way, I’ll share my personal tips, insights and progress – and would love to learn from you too!
I consider myself a polyglot – well at least, that’s my ultimate vision for myself. I see myself being fluent in French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and Filipino (Tagalog). Of course, English is a given since it’s my native tongue.
Specifically, the reasons why I think a language learning log will help me is because of the following:
- A language log keeps me focused as it track of my progress
- A public language log keeps me motivated due to public pressure
- A language learning log keeps me mentally sane and emotionally stable
I used to use the language learning log section in the HTLAL community at how-to-learn-any-language.com, but I wanted more flexibility and control in how my log would be presented and shared. I wanted more creative input in how it looked and felt, and more personlization.
My goal will be to have Bi-Monthly challenges, meaning a challenge every 2 months.
I’m excited and a little nervous. Excited that I’m getting closer and moving towards my goals, but nervous because I haven’t done a public language learning log like this before, and unsure how it’ll turn out. I want to stay committed and I hope I can continue to find ways to do so.
If this is your first time here, I want to say: Hello. Bonjour. Hola. Ni Hao. Kamusta!!!
